GIVING TO IUC
Empowering IUC’s Mission of Excellence
Giving to the next generation of students makes an impact far into the future. Your support transforms the lives of those admitted to the IUC program each year. Over 90% of those admitted require some form of financial aid to participate. Your gift supports and changes the world through them.

“IUC is one of the most important educational institutions linking Japan, the U.S, and other Western nations. It plays a crucial role in preparing countless students for cross-cultural roles in academia, business, arts and sciences, and public service. My wife Ann and I are delighted to support IUC knowing that I am making the same opportunity available to others that was made for me.” | “IUC provided an education upon which I have built much of my career. It was a nurturing, challenging, informative environment, and the only educational experience I encountered where the passion of the teachers matched the passion of the students. I support IUC so students can have a similar experience and contribute to the world in their own unique way.” | “My year at IUC was a real turning point in my anthropological career: linguistic and cultural literacy opened many doors for me, and allowed me to put my degree to work. Because I benefitted from scholarship support, I wanted to make sure other graduate students had the same opportunity to take their studies out of the classroom and into the field.” |

“In one word, courage. Thanks to the generous support from IUC donors, I could take risks to build the life I want. I broke into Japanese pop culture events, pivoted to project management due to COVID-19, and am currently working in sustainability and corporate philanthropy in finance. I am honored to be part of such a brilliant network of scholars, professionals, and I look forward to supporting other students in the future.” | “My time as a Nippon Foundation Fellow at IUC was unforgettable and life-changing. It gave me an invaluable opportunity to study Japanese intensively, free from financial concerns, alongside passionate peers and inspiring teachers. It helped me thrive as a PhD student at Cambridge, particularly in analyzing Japanese sources instrumental to my research.” | “Support from the IUC community was literally life changing. It enabled me to reorient my focus to Japanese language study during the pandemic, and when the Omicron wave delayed our arrival to Japan by several months, IUC alumni rallied to help us with additional expenses. I think about the amazing experience at IUC and am grateful every day.” |
